Friday Sit/Start

A change is gonna come.... I am happy to announce that the "I" of this blog has turned into a "WE".  Keep your eye to the screen and your ear to the ground, as posts from some new team members are coming soon.....

Byes: Falcons, Ravens, Bears, Browns, Giants, Eagles

Due to six teams being on bye this week, your lineup could include some guys you hope you would never start. I will try to keep this in mind as I go through the match ups.

BUF @ KC Arrowhead Stadium 1:00 PM
No doubt I love me some Bills from a fantasy perspective. The thing is, Kansas City's defense is not too bad. This week for the Bills I still trust Ryan Fitzpatrick to be a good, not great, fantasy player. I like Lee Evans as a solid WR #2 and if you are decimated at RB Fred Jackson will get plenty of touches, so maybe he will be decent. Steve Johnson is a long shot to have value, but if you have to, you have to. On the Kansas City side of things, the Buffalo Defense is bad. For the Chiefs (who I really like this week) I say you roll with Charles, Thomas Jones, Bowe, Matt Cassel, and Tony Moeaki. I think given that 6 QBs are on a bye Cassell and Fitz are both good fill ins.

GB @ NYJ New Meadowlands Stadium 1:00 PM
Any way you want to slice it Green Bay is struggling coming into this week, mainly because they have no run game. Against the Jets they may have no pass game either. I like Rogers, Jennings, and Drive this week to be starters, not because you love the match but because to win they will have to throw. The Jets are the home team coming off a bye so the week favors them. For the Jets you roll out with Tomlinson, Brayon Edwards, Sanchez, and to a lesser extent, Santonio Holmes. Homes would be a flex or possibly deep WR2 if you have some guys on a bye.

DEN @ SF Wembley Stadium 1:00 PM
The NFL sends its best to England... that's what they did right? There are 2 things I know for sure, 1) in light of Alex Smith being out the 49ers are going to run more than ever and 2) rookie/new QBs love the TE. So I say Frank Gore and Vernon Davis are the only fantasy starters on the 49ers this week. For Denver, who knows? I think Orton, Lloyd, and Moreno are must starts.  I look for the Bronco's to bounce back after last week embarrassment. To a lesser extent I think Eddie Royal could be OK, but chances are you have someone better.

JAC @ DAL Cowboys Stadium 1:00 PM
Could any team be more of a letdown than Dallas? I mean, if you are Dallas you almost want to lose from here on out, so you can have one of the first draft picks, but that is a discussion for another time. Jacksonville is notoriously bad on the road so I have the Dallas guys a bit higher than you might think. I like Miles Austin and Jason Witten as auto starts, but I would not rate then nearly as high w/o Romo. Dallas said this week that they wanted to "focus" on the run.... that said, I think you give Felix Jones a bit of an uptick in value. I don't hate Kitna, but the offensive line couldn't protect Romo, so I don't see him being protected either. For Jacksonville, I think you will see a lot of Jones-Drew here, he is the only one I would be comfortable starting, even though Marcedes Lewis and Sims-Walker should be decent.

CAR @ STL Edward Jones Dome 1:00 PM
As the the time I am writing this DeAngelo Williams has not practiced this week. So my thought is if Williams doesn't practice Friday, Stewart will be the guy. Whichever guy is the starting RB should be started. I think you have to start Steve Smith as well, he has proven that he can produce no matter what. For the Rammers I would feel confident in Steven Jackson (who had finger surgery, be is going to play) and Danny Amendola. I think Bradford would be a decent option here, but decent at best.

MIA @ CIN Paul Brown Stadium 1:00 PM
I really like Brandon Marshall, Davone Bess, and even Henne in this one. The Fins running game has been bad this year, and I don't see it taking a huge increase in this game. I think that Ronnie Brown will have to be started, because of bye weeks and where you drafted him, but I still am not real high on this guy. The Bengals have been on pass alert the past few weeks, I don't see that changing. I think you start T.O. and Chad 84+1, Palmer, and to a lesser extent Benson. If you are in a PPR league and you're a gambler I think Jordan Shipley will be ok too.

WAS @ DET Ford Field 1:00 PM
I think with Matthew Stafford returning to the game, he should also return to your fantasy lineup. Also, you gotta love Megatron (Calvin Johnson) and Jahvid Best here too. I think the Skins will hand out a heavy dose of Ryan Torain again this week, with good results I believe. I think McNabb, Moss, and Cooley will be good, not great, as well. The Lions defense is far from good, but they are not awful either.

TEN @ SD Qualcomm Stadium 4:05 PM
Anyone keeping Kenny Britt on the bench this week???? You know it's the week he is going to only have 3 catches for 28 yards, right? I know, but you still have to start him, oh and that Johnson running back guy too. Aside from those two players, I don't like any other Titans for fantasy. On the Chargers side of the ball with Floyd still out, I like Rivers, Gates, and Crayton to keep themselves in the game, not a huge fan of Ryan Matthews against Tennessee's defense. I will not be surprised if the final score here is low.

TB @ ARI University of Phoenix Stadium 4:15 PM
Arizona..... If Larry Fitzgerald was named Lenny Wilson you would have dropped him for Danny Woodhead 3 weeks ago. The Fitz has done nothing this year. With that, I think you still gotta start him, but man I don't like it, and outside of Beanie Wells is the only Cardinal I like. For Tampa Bay or the Best Team in the NFC? I like Freeman, Winslow, Blount, and Mike Williams to all have more than 5 and less than 12 fantasy points.

MIN @ NE Gillette Stadium 4:15 PM
New England sure does like to spread the ball around, which really turns all their pass catchers into good but not great plays. Still I think you start Brady, Welker, Branch, and Aaron Hernandez. I like the Law Firm here too, he has been a touchdown machine as of late and I don't see that changing. For the Minnesota Favres, I'm not sure Brett Viking plays... wait something sounded backwards there... oh well. I think regardless of the QB, Peterson, Moss and, to a lesser extent, Percy Harvin are starters.

SEA @ OAK Oakland Coliseum 4:15 PM
Because everyone wants to be in Oakland on Halloween, right? For the Seahawks you gotta ride the Mike Williams train, since Deion Branch left a few weeks ago no WR in the NFL has more targets than Williams. I also like Lynch to be a good choice at RB this week. For the Raiders, um that McFadden guy, yeah start him. Also Zack Miller, and leave the rest on the bench.

PIT @ NO Superdome 8:20 PM
Do you really like any Saints offensive player at this point? No way Thomas or Bush will play, I think you start Chris Ivory, with low expectations because it's the Steelers and roll the dice that Brees, Colston, Moore will be decent. For the Steelers I think you start Big Ben, Ward, Mendenhall, Mike Wallace and Heath Miller.

Monday Night and Game of the Week
HOU @ IND Lucas Oil Stadium 8:30 PM

I think we turn the shootout alert on... Has only seen how bad the Texans secondary has been. I think you start anyone who might be a WR for the Colts in this game. The Texans' bad pass defense, mixed with the fact the Colts may be starting the 3 runningback this week, means they are going to throw, throw, throw. Last time these two teams met Arian Foster had 41 fantasy points, I think more like 18 is reasonable this time, because I see the Texans being behind so quickly that he have to abandon the run and throw more as well. For Houston I think that you keep it simple... Foster, Johnson, and Schaub.

Terrible Tuesday

Ok here is a list of guys that I think could/should be dropped, or at least sat until they prove they can do something.

Correll Buckhalter

Bernard Berrian

Tim Hightower - bad offense, Wells is back to being the number 1 guy

Johnathan Stewart - I mean, he got 15 carries this week and he was still bad. His fantasy value circles around him getting a touchdown, I can't start a guy based on the fact that he "might" score. DeAngelo Williams has some sort of foot injury so if he has to miss time. I think that Stewart could have more value, but all things considered if you need to drop someone and he is on your team, pull the trigger.

C.J. Spiller - so far all he has done is lose touches to Fred Jackson, the Bill's running game is not that good anyway, why would you want the number 2 guy?

Here are some guys that really need to step it up...

Larry Fitzgerald - you drafted him as a top 10 WR (which I think I told you not to, but that's for another day) and he has been no where close to top 10.

Marques Colston - He is tied with Danny Woodhead in terms of fantasy points, DANNY WOODHEAD?

Ryan Matthews - he was drafted as a top 10 RB, and is nowhere close, not even close.

Monday Pickup

Wow what a crazy football weekend...
Darren McFadden and Kenny Britt were the scoring leaders.
The Raiders scored like 4,000 points on Denver.
Ryan Fitzpatrick and Lee Evans of the Bills... who? Yeah that's the Bills. Those guys were the 5th and 6th leading scorers... crazy. I can only imagine what tonight's game will be like.

Now on to the pick-up list.

1.) Mike Williams, WR Seattle - he seems to be the number 1 guy in place of Branch, who left for New England. He had 11 Receptions for 87 yards on 16 targets this week, and 10 receptions for 123 yards on 15 targets last week.

2) Pickup a Bill will ya. Actually I am not totally sold on the hype, but you cannot ignore the fantasy scoring of Ryan Fitzpatrick, he has had double digits every game he has started and at least 20 points in the last 3 starts. I'm not saying you start him over Peyton Manning, but he has proven that he can score against good teams.

3) Lee Evans, WR Bills - he has been a beast and with Fitz throwing to him.... it's good.

4) Fred Jackson, RB Bills - he has ruled the backfield in light of he Lynch absence. Yesterday he had 23 carries and the week before 15, you gotta like a guy who gets the ball that much. He faces the Chiefs next week who gave up 17 points to MJD, so I feel like if Jackson can get 15-18 touches he should have a good week.

Friday Sit / Start

(Byes: Detroit, Houston, Indianapolis, N.Y. Jets)

1:00 Cincinnati at Atlanta
Atlanta's Defense is decent. That said, I like T.Ochocinco (see what I did there, 2 players one name) to have a good game, and Benson should be real nice in this one too. I don't like Palmer here. For Atlanta you are starting all your "studs". Turner, White, Matt Ryan, and Gonzalez. Wow that was short....

1:00: Buffalo at Baltimore, CBS-6
Well you have to love the Ravens D in this one, but wait. As bad as the Bills are they can really put up some points. Again, against the Ravens I can trust them. Start Lee Evans if you have to, I'm down on Fred Jackson and Ryan Fitz this week. As far as the Ravens go I think you are safe to start Flacco, Ray Rice, and the other "normal" cast of characters. If you read the blog you know I am down on T.J. Hous. so leave him out.

1:00 49ers @ Panthers
Oh yuck, talk about a game full of junkers. Anyway as far a Carolina goes I think you can feel confident in DeAngelo Williams, and for some reason I like Johnathan Stewart here. You want no one in the Panthers passing game and Smith is likely out another week. I don't really like San Fran, because of the whole west coast team traveling east, playing the early game, Carolina is the home team coming off the bye thing. That said, for the 49ers your start Gore, Vernon Davis (if he plays), and Crabtree, yes Crabtree. I think that the 49ers are finally committed to getting him the ball, oh and the Panthers are bad.

1:00: Washington at Chicago, Fox
I think that this game could be a little more defensive than you think. Given that, I think for the Bears you start Forte, Johnny Knox, and Cutler if you have to. For the Skins I think Torain will be decent, not great. I really don't trust the Skins passing game here. I think if you have Santana Moss you start him, other than that I would not feel comfortable with any other receiver including McNabb. It looks like Chris Cooley will not play. If he does not, I think Fred Davis could be interesting, and maybe good for about 8 fantasy points.

1:00 Jacksonville @ Kansas City
Jacksonville is awful on the road, just plain bad. I think for the Jags you roll with MJD and Marcedes Lewis and leave the rest on the bench. Start Sims-Walker if you must but when he has 4 catches for 27 yards don't say I didn't warn you, especially since Todd Bouman is the QB this week. I like the whole laundry list of Chiefs here, Charles, Tom Jones, Bowe, Tony Moeaki, Chiefs defense, and Matt Cassel.

1:00: Pittsburgh at Miami, CBS
I look for the Steelers to be big in this one. Miami's defense has not been able to hold good offensive teams down this year. I think Big Ben, Mendenhall, Mike Wallace, Hines Ward, and the Steelers D come up big here. For the Fins I like Marshall to be decent, after that I am not a fan of anyone to be big. I think that Davone Bess will be decent in a PPR league. Ronnie Brown and Williams will be down for me in this game for 2 reasons: 1) Steelers D is tough and 2) they are splitting carries.... no thanks.

1:00: Cleveland at New Orleans, CBS
Thus far this year the Saints D has given up the 9th most points to opposing running backs. That said, the fact that Colt McCoy will start again tells me the Browns are committed to running quite a bit, so I love Hillis in this match up. As far as the rest of the Browns are concerned,  I think the TE Watson will be decent, due to concussions to Cribbs and Massaquoi I am no fan of the passing game. For the Saints it's easy, Brees, Colston, Moore, Meachem (flex), and Chris Ivory if Thomas is out, and obviously Thomas instead of Ivory if he plays.

1:00: St. Louis at Tampa Bay, Fox
For Tampa Bay, it's hard to like anyone from a fantasy prospective. So if you have to, I think you start Mike Williams as like a WR 2. Other than that I am really not a fan of the TB running backs and cannot recommend a start for any of them. As far as the Rams are concerned, I really like Steven Jackson to take over, that said he is my pick for most fantasy points this week. The Rams passing attack has seen a decline since Mark Clayton went down, and I think that Danario Alexander will be a decent WR 3 - flex play this week.

1:00 Philly at Tennessee
This game is interesting because both QBs are possible no starts. It looks like, however, going into the weekend that Vince and Kolb will be the starters, but I really don't think that changes the value of the players around them if it's Collins and Vick. For the Titans obviously you start Chris Johnson, beyond that I like Britt and am not a fan of any other Titan. For the Eagles, the fact that DeSean Jackson is out adds value to Maclin, McCoy, and Celek. I think Kolb will be good again this week, but not near as good as last week. Titans defense is tough.

4:05: Arizona at Seattle, Fox
The Seahawks give up the 5th most points in the league to opposing WRs, so I will take my chances on Larry Fitz this week to score more than 12 fantasy points. That said, I like no other Cardinal this week. On the Seattle side of things I really think that Hasselbeck, Mike Williams, and Deon Butler all come up big in the passing game again this week. I think Lynch will perform well also, the Cardinals D is not that good, folks.

4:15: New England at San Diego, CBS
I've got shootout alert on here, to me you are starting Brady, Welker, Deion Branch, the Law Firm, and Aaron Hernandez, who I think will be the best fantasy TE this week. I like most folks involved in the Bolts' passing game this week.  I would throw out some names, but I am not sure who they will be. If the games were played today it looks like Buster Davis and Patrick Crayton. The Patriots have proven you can throw all over them, that's why I love Rivers in this matchup regardless of who he is throwing to. Ryan Matthews has reclaimed the backfield (sorry Tolbert owners) he will be good this weekend.

4:15: Oakland at Denver, CBS
It's hard to recommend any Raider when the coaching staff doesn't even know who the QB will be. That said, I expect a lot of running by Mcfadden, check downs to Zach Miller, and field goals by Janikowski. On the Denver side of the ball I like everyone with the exception of Eddie Royal because he is hurt. I even like Knowshon.

8:20: Minnesota at Green Bay, NBC
In this one you love the Packers' passing attack which finally breathed some life this past week. I think Rodgers, Jennings and Driver are no brainers and that the Packers D should come up with some Old Grey Beard turnovers. For the Vikings I start Peterson, Moss, and Harvin.  I'm not a fan of Shiancoe here as he has been blocking more to protect the Beard from onslaught.

Monday, Oct. 25 Game of the Week
Com'on guys, how could this not be game of the week.
8:30: N.Y. Giants at Dallas, ESPN

Poor Dallas, change coaches already. I mean when is the last time Jerry Jones has settled for medicare come on really? That said I like Romo, Roy Williams, and Miles Austin to be decent here. Not a fan of the Dallas run game, because the Giants defense is good and it's a time share situation. For the G-men, you gotta love Manning, Steve Smith, and Nicks. To a lesser extent I like Bradshaw and touchdown vulture Brandon Jacobs whose sole job is to rob touchdowns from Bradshaw...

Terrible Tuesday

Welcome to the Jungle  Junkyard....

It's Tuesday and I have a whole list of Terribleness for you.

Jacoby Jones (sigh) - I was real big on this guy in the preseason, but the fact that he has been hurt and Kevin Walter is the number 2 guy, I am done with him.

Correll Buckhalter - Denver is an awful running team. Buckhalter is the 2 or 3 guy. You can't afford to have him on your team.

T.J. Houshmanzadeh - didn't I already tell you to drop this guy?

Laurence Maroney - See Correll Buckhalter.

Bernard Berrian - See any internet post about this new Moss guy in Minnesota.

Steve Slaton - Number 2 Ravens RB no more. Hello Derrick Ward?

and I still don't like

Marion Barber or Jerome Harrison

Monday Pickup

Here is a list of guys you should own if someone in your league doesn't already.

Deion Branch, WR Patriots - Easily Brady's favorite target this week against a good Ravens defense. Branch managed 9 catches 98 yards and a touchdown.

Ben Watson, TE Browns - He is a decent week to week play. If Colt McCoy continues to be the QB I think he turns out better than decent.

I still love Aaron Hernandez, TE Pats going forward. Brady looks for him a ton and he has good hands.

Patrick Crayton, WR Chargers - I only like this pickup if TE Gates and WR Malcom Floyd miss any time so beware.

On to a new section I like to call "What"?

So far this year Mark Sanchez has more fantasy points than Tom Brady.... What?

Hakeem Nicks & Brandon Lloyd number 1 and 2 fantasy WRs in football.... What?

The Ravens defense 26th in terms of fantasy scoring, the Falcons D (8th) has 30 more fantasy points on the year.... What? 30?

Sit Start Week 6

Bye: Buffalo, Cincinnati, Arizona, Carolina

Seattle at Chicago 1:00 PM FOX
The return of Jay Cutler. Cutler and the Bears should be in for a good day as the Seahawks have given up double digit fantasy points to every QB they have faced except for Alex Smith. As much as Matt Forte is involved in the pass, I think he has a good day as well. With Cutler back, Johnny Knox will be decent and the Bears defense should continue to be nasty. With that said, I can't really recommend a Seahawk at this point. If they use Marshawn Lynch as the primary back, he should get 15+ touches and maybe a score, but I say 12 points tops. All other Seahawks are bad plays this week.

Miami at Green Bay 1:00 PM CBS
If ever there was a week for Miami to shine, it would be now. The Packers are decimated at defense. Therefore, I really like Brandon Marshall this week, and Davone Bess, especially if you are in a PPR league. Ronnie Brown should be a good play too if he is healthy and not limited, so watch for that on Sunday. As far as the Packers I really like Rogers, Driver, and Jennings in this match up, if Rogers plays if not it severely limits the value of the two receivers. I don't feel confident in any Green Bay runner just so you know. Also, it came out a few days ago that Jermichael Finely is out a new longer estimated 6 to 10 weeks, I think that means you gotta drop him sorry.

San Diego at St. Louis 1:00 PM CBS
Last week I said that St. Louis defense is better than you think.... that could have been wrong. That said, the Chargers pass defense is the best in the league right now in terms of fantasy points allowed. That is inflated however because they have played some real stinkers at QB. This week shapes up to be same way, meaning I am no fan of anyone in the Rams passing attack. Steven Jackson should be decent, but that is about all. For the Chargers, Rivers, Floyd, and Gates should be large this week and I also think this week is the week that Ryan Matthews reclaims the backfield. Sorry Tolbert owners.

Baltimore at New England 1:00 PM CBS
Well the Moss-"less" Patriots play the Ravens, this one could be fun. New England's defense is bad, so you gotta love all your Ravens here. For the Pats I would not feel confident starting Brandon Tate or Deion Branch yet. My suggestion is to wait and see which one seems to be the "starter". I think this one gets into a shootout as the Ravens defense is not as good as you think. Brady and Welker will be solid. Arron Hernandez and the "Law Firm" (BenJarvus Green-Ellis) should be good too.

New Orleans at Tampa Bay 1:00 PM FOX
New Orleans has a great matchup here, but they are so washy I can't trust any of them. I still think given the matchup Brees, Colston, Lance Moore, and Pierre Thomas (if he plays/he should) will all be good starts. Also, remember the Saints cut Carney and Garrett Hartley is the kicker again. For Tampa I can't see a situation where you would start Josh Freeman even though he is decent. I think that Mike Williams is the only Tampa guy you can start. As far as Tampa running backs who knows they probably will play someone who isn't even on the yet. ??

Detroit at NY Giants 1:00 PM FOX
Ahamad Bradshaw says he is healthier this week than last, that said his value goes up and Brandon Jacbos back down. After last week you have to automatic start Eli and Nicks. Steve Smith will be good here too. If Calvin Johnson plays I can see starting him and Jahvid Best, if not I start neither, the Giants will just load up to stop the run.

Atlanta at Philadelphia 1:00 PM FOX
For the Falcons this is not a great matchup. They are a run first team, and so are the 49ers and you saw how they played last week. Matt Ryan typically is not that good on the road so I think stay away from him if you can. I think Turner and Roddy White to have good games here and Tony Gonzalez too. For Philly it depends on who the QB is, you will start LeSean McCoy and Maclin regardless. I only feel good about Celek if Kolb plays. That said if Kolb plays I would seriously think about not playing him. If Vick plays I ride him to a victory.

Cleveland at Pittsburgh 1:00 PM CBS
I have to be Peyton Hillis' biggest fan. With that said, I only think he will be decent this week, because with Colt McCoy getting the start, I don't imagine much throwing success (it's the Steelers here). Hillis should get a lot of chances though, but the fact that it's Pittsburgh and he is banged up makes me a bit iffy. As far as the Steelers are concerned, I expect them to have a big day at home welcoming back Big Ben. Start 'em all.

Kansas City at Houston 1:00 PM CBS
The Chiefs defense is not bad at all. You really need to consider this when thinking of playing there guys. Just look at what they did to the Colts last week, it was ugly. I think for the Texans you start Foster and Andre Johnson and that's it. For Kansas City, no team in the NFL gives up more passing yards than the Texans so start Matt Cassel, right? Ha no... I think the only Chiefs I start are Jamaal Charles and TE Tony Moeaki.

Oakland at San Francisco 4:05 PM CBS
As long as Alex Smith is the QB I only feel comfortable starting Gore and Vernon Davis. There was a Michael Crabtree sighting last week, more on that at 11. For Oakland, that one guy is the QB again. Wha'ts his name? Oh, Jason Campbell. Even with him, playing the 49ers defense is not great. I still like Louis Murphy, Zack Miller, and Michael Bush.

NY Jets at Denver 4:05 PM CBS
All Denver can do is throw, which becomes real difficult against the Jets, however I am still buying in on Ortin and the boys. Start all of them, Ortin, Lloyd, Gaffney and Royal. Start no Denver RB....none. For the Jets, Mark Sanchez has become an interesting play and I actually like him in this matchup. I think that LT will be huge. Shone Green will make a good flex this week, I just feel it. Other than that, you start Holmes and Dustin Keller, and possibly Braylon Edwards who still leads the team in targets last week even though Holmes was back.

Indianapolis at Washington 8:20 PM NBC
The Colts should be huge in this one, Manning is my pick for most points this week. Wayne, Collie, Witten, and Garcon should all be good, especially since you consider that all the Colts runners are banged up and they may need to throw more. For Washington I think that McNabb will be ok, not great. I do think that Ryan Torain will be great this week. The Colts run defense is bad so I will take my chances. Santana Moss will be decent and Chris Cooley should be ok too.

Monday Night
Tennessee at Jacksonville 8:30 PM
Jacksonville is a bad road team, good thing they are at home for this one. That said, Vince Young and the Titans passing game looked good last week. If you need a bye week QB, I like Vince as good as any that might be out there. As for Vince playing, well I think you start Kenny Britt and Nate Washington as well. Oh, and there is this one running back at Tennessee that you will want to start too. I think that Chris Johnson has over 150 yards in this game? For Jacksonville, what can you say, they are not that good, let's say that. I think that MJD, Mike Thomas, and Marcedes Lewis will be decent, not good and definitely not great.

Game of the Week
Dallas at Minnesota 4:15 PM FOX

Source

Don't you just love to see two struggling teams play?

I think Dallas finally looks like Dallas here, I start them all. Even *gasp* Roy Williams. Felex Jones is still the guy you want, even though the "Boys" say Barber is the starter. As far as "Old Grey Beard and the Horn Hats" are concerned, you start Peterson and Moss and leave the rest on the bench. I think they are in more disarray than Dallas. Is that even possible?

2X Terrible Tuesday

It's Tuesday, folks, and let the terribleness begin...

Who's the guy... you know him as

Jerome Harrison.

Source

You want his fantasy numbers the first five weeks.... 4, 5, 0, 0, 0. Even with Hillis banged up this week he only got 6 carries and 6 yards on those carries. It's over for Harrison as a Fantasy player. He should not be owned in any league....

You want one more...

Marion Barber.

Source

His fantasy numbers for the last five weeks ... 3, 3, 11, bye, 1. Evidently when the boys said they were going to give Felex Jones a try they meant it. Jones had 15 carries for 109 yards to Barber's 6 for 19. As much as the Cowboys are struggling this year. If Jones really is the guy I don't see how in the world you would ever feel confident on Barber.

Other terrible (dropable) guys so far:
Laurence Maroney
Steve Slaton (Derrick Ward is number 2 in Houston)
Bernard Berrian

Monday Pickup...

Today for Monday pickup I will give you a list of guys to add instead of one. How great is that right?

Shaun Hill QB Lions - this is a ride it while it's hot pickup he has been great thus far as a fill in for the injured Matt Stafford, and is owned in only 12% of leagues.

Ryan Fitzpatrick QB Bills - He has been great the last two weeks with 20 fantasy points each game however his road to fantasy glory gets much more difficult in the weeks to come. I still think he will be a good fill in for your Starting QB if you need him.  Owned in only 6% of leagues.

Fred Jackson RB Bills - he is owned in 85% of leagues so that means he may not be available to you. I don't think he will be great going forward, but he will be a nice bye week fill in as he should get 10-15 carries a game.

Brandon Tate WR  Patriots - Who knows exactly how the Randy Moss trade will fall out in New England. All I know is Tate should start opposite Welker and will Brady Throwing the ball to him I will take my Chances.

Marshawn Lynch RB Seahawks - Pete Carroll leads us to believe that he will be the Guy in week 6, who am I to doubt that. I don't love Lynch from a fantasy prospective, but anytime you can get a teams number one back you do it.

A little Bouns for those who read to the End...

Because of Injury Danny Amendola and Mike Hart "could" have value. Hart would only have value if Addai and Brown miss more time for the Colts.

Week Five Sit / Start

Just a note: This week tons of people have been on and off injury reports. Andre Johnson, Ray Rice, Hillis, Moreno, Bradshaw, and on and on. Just make sure you start a guy that is going to play. Sounds simple, I know. The following will be based on the fact that the the guys I mention are playing.

Week 5, here we come...
Bye: Miami, New England, Pittsburgh, Seattle

Jacksonville at Buffalo 1:00 PM CBS
With what the Jags did last week you have to like their chances against the Terrible Bills. I think that all of your Jags will be decent here. If Mike Sims-Walker is going to be fantasy relevant at any point in time this year it will be this game. The Jags defense is not that great, so I could see Fred Jackson playing well now that the Bills backfield has cleared out.  I still don't trust their passing game even though Ryan Fitz has been good since he took over, and could have a good game against that giving Jags Defense. 14,21,32,20 thats the points they have given up thus far to QB's

Tampa Bay at Cincinnati 1:00 PM FOX
I think from here on out you gotta start T.O. I have been down on him all year, but the time has come for me to come to the light. With Shipley out I like Ochocinco a little more, but still no more than a flex play. Benson and Palmer should be decent. The Tampa defense is better than you think. As far as Tampa, word is Cadillac and LeGarrette Blount will be splitting carries... I want no part of that mess. I can't think of any Buc you could start, maybe Winslow as the Bengals seem to struggle the most with the TE's on defense.

Atlanta at Cleveland 1:00 PM FOX
I like pretty much all of Atlanta's offensive players here, after what the Bengals did to them last week. Roddy White could be huge if he can come close to what T.O. did last week. Turner and Snelling will both be good plays this week. As for the Browns, you gotta start Hills, Gore and Mendenhall, both hit easy double digits against the Falcons defense in prior weeks. No way you start any other Brown.

St. Louis at Detroit 1:00 PM FOX
How exciting is this game, right? Best of the Worst? I actually think as bad as both these defenses are I really like Shaun Hill and Sam Bradford (oh sorry just threw up a little). Other than that you should start the normal guys. Looks like Steven Jackson will suit up and against Detroit that's all you need him to. I'm totally not buying Darby. Clayton, and Jackson for the Rams are must starts, Amendola if you need a flex. Jahvid Best and Calvin Johnson on the other side.

Kansas City at Indianapolis 1:00 PM CBS
You never start any one in Kansas City passing attack ever... that said I really like both Thomas Jones and Jaamal Charles in this match up. Colts Defense = Bad against the run.  You start all your Colts here, however I don't expect last week's results... there is a reason Kansas City is undefeated. KC defense is better than you think.

Green Bay at Washington 1:00 PM FOX
Portis is out 4-6 weeks and I fully think that Ryan Torain will be the starter for the rest of the season.  I also think he's a great start this week. I think that Cooley could have a good game here. Outside of those two guys, I think you stay away from the Skins passing game. Really just the opposite for Green Bay, they are going to throw it all over the place. Clearly Kuhn is the Packers RB you want to me he is a Flex at best.

Chicago at Carolina 1:00 PM FOX
The Bears confirmed late yesterday that Cutler would be "OUT" this week. I think this really limits the value of all Bears players. Based on your teams Forte and Johnny Knox may be locked into your lineups, but I don't really care for them this week. Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs actually ran well against the Bears last week. That said, I like Williams and *gasp* fantasy zombie Jonathan Stewart to do the same this week. Here is the logic on that. Carolina Steve Smith out, Rookie QB playing on an already bad offense, the Bears offense will be equally as bad this week, Panthers run a ton? Makes sense to me.

Denver at Baltimore 1:00 PM CBS
The Ravens pass defense is tough, and Denver loves to throw. I think that if you've got someone better than Ortin you play them here. Eddie Royal could catch a few balls in the slot, other than that I'm down on the Broncos passing this week only. Baltimore gave up tons of rushing yards to Hillis and Mendenhall so if Moreno plays he will be just fine. So far this year the Broncos have allowed the 3rd and 4th most points to QBs and WRs respectively. Given that, I think you have to give Flacco the start. Bolden is an automatic start, and Derrick Mason is interesting here. I'm way down on Ray Rice this week, um did you see what this defense did to Chris Johnson last week? 19 carries 53 yards plus who knows how healthy Rice even is?

NY Giants at Houston 1:00 PM FOX
The Gaints defense has been good against the pass this year, at the same time they haven't played a team like the Texans either. I think you start all your normal Texans here... Shaub, Andre Johnson (if he plays), Foster, and Kevin Walter. As for New York, I like lots of guys here as the Texans defense has not been that good this year. I think that Bradshaw (if he plays) (dang I'm tried of saying that), Manning, Steve Smith, , and Nicks all will be just fine. I see the Giants being down and needing to throw here. I rank that Giants WRs Nicks -Smith -Manningham.

New Orleans at Arizona 4:05 PM FOX
If Pierre Thomas goes then you start him, if not don't start a Saints RB, it's a mess down there at RB. Brees, Lance Moore, and Colston should have good days against the Cards defense. The Saints Defensive backfield has thinned a bit with injury, so Fitz could be decent......... but wait, Max Hall is "now" the starting QB. If you have Fitz you "have to" start him, but who knows how he will do. Side note on Fitz, no other WR has a larger margin between targets and receptions. Do you think that is because he can't catch? Nope. The difference is between throwing it to someone and "near" someone. Wells and Hightower could benefit here, with the Cards wanting to get the young QB eased into the action.

San Diego at Oakland 4:15 PM CBS
You are for sure starting all your Chargers this week, Gates, Rivers, Matthews, Floyd, except Tolbert. Ryan Matthews has taken back over the starting spot.  With Bush and Mcfadden both banged up the only Raider I'm starting is Zach Miller.

Tennessee at Dallas 4:15 PM CBS
The Titans defense is tough, I think you start Austin, Romo, and Witten. I don't buy Roy Williams. I am not all in on Dez Bryant yet, and the Cowboys say they want to get Felix Jones the ball more... they say that every year. For the Titans I think that Nate Washington will be a good play here. The Cowboys defense has allowed some monster passing games. No way I would tell you to start Vince, but because of the matchup he could be decent. At the same time if they are down and he needs to throw a lot he could have like 3 picks? I think Chris Johnson has 90+ yards and a TD here and about 20 carries?

Philadelphia at San Francisco 8:20 PM NBC
The Eagles without Vick, and  LeSean Mcoy likely out. I think Desean Jackson will be alright but not great. Kolb being under center helps Celek. I don't know that I trust any Eagle this week. As far a San Fran goes, it's just like normal. You start Gore and Vernon Davis and run away from thoughts of starting anyone else. Here is a stat for you. No (that means not any) 49ers wide receiver has gotten more than 7 points in a game... RUN

MONDAY NIGHT  Game of the Week!
Can the Jets keep up AFC Domination? Can Minnesota get back to winning? Who does Randy Moss  Brett Favre (Old Grey Beard) play for?

Minnesota at NY Jets 8:30 PM
Well here comes Moss and the Vikings.  First off I don't know that I am as thrilled about Moss and the Vikes as everyone else. I think he will easily be the number one target in let's say 2 weeks, but not this week. If you've got him I think you start him. I don't know that I feel good about it. Aside from the Moss stuff you start Peterson, maybe Percy Harvin, I don't feel great about that one either. For the Jets, LT, Braylon Edwards, Dustin Keller (best TE in football?). Santonio Holmes is back this week, but I don't look for he and Sanchez to have an immediate connection. Speaking of Sanchez I think he has another good week. *Not mentioned in the above "Old Grey Beard". Do not start, anyone in this game who has almost been retired.

Things I am buying and not...

Here is a  list of Things I'm not buying...

Patriots Defense - Lucky. The secondary there is young and just flat not very good you have seen their best performance, sorry.

Ryan Fitzpatrick - He plays for the Bills. I shouldn't need to say anything else.

Harry Douglas - random ATL Receiver, run first team, caught a TD against SF na...

Danny Woodhead - the Pats seem to really like this guy. If you watch him play you will see that he is way undersized, and the only reason he has had fantasy relevance to date is that he has scored TD in his last two games. If you got a roster spot, you could speculate and get him. I think he could be a bust.... just saying.

Sweatshirt Snuggie ... Gross, why not just wear your robe backwards???

Things I am buying

Me on twitter - @rodwisecarver

LaDainian Tomlinson - He is the Number one RB on a Jets team that loves to run.

Eddie Royal - Pass first team, good hands good in the slot. Am I describing Wes Welker? If the shoe fits.

Davone Bess - Another slot guy who has looked good the past few weeks, he has great hands and great run after the catch Ability.

Randy Moss Trade- Most think it will happen today. This means you need Brandon Tate on your team, he will be the guy opposite Welker.

Terrible Tuesday here we come.... Jacksonville

Let me paint you a picture. Player A, fantasy points thus far 17. Player B, fantasy points thus far 49. Player A is on a run first team. Player B a pass first team. Player A zero points this week, 3 points last week. Player B 11 points this week, 22 last week. So, you want to know the toubling part? Fantasy player A is owned in 96% of ESPN standard leagues, player B is owned in only 60% of those same leagues. Who is player B??? Brandon Lloyd, and player A is your Terrible Tuesday drop of the week.

Yeah, that's him in the Dog House   Source

Mike Sims-Walker
I had Sims-Walker on a fantasy team last year. That is exactly why I did not draft him this year. One week he would score 20 points, the next week 2. So you would take him out of your lineup on the 20 point week, feel good about him, put him back in and he would score 2 points... very frustrating.  I just see no way that you would ever start this guy. Jacksonville is bad, bad, bad even if they did beat the Colts. There are plenty of good receivers on your waiver wire that would beat this guy to death. Move on, there can only be one hyphenated last name guy from Jacksonville on your roster and this is not him.

Pickup of the Week

Well, if your fantasy team is like mine you could use a little running back help. I drafted Ryan Grant and Jonathan Stewart to carry the load for me at RB. After week one Grant was out for the season and Stewart was found on one of the worst teams in football. I really want to drop Stewart but I feel like as soon as I do DeAngelo Williams will get hurt and Stewart will be valid. So with that said I went to wire in week two and found Peyton Hillis, a guy who is the number one back on a run first team. As far as I am concerned, Hillis is a starter in every league in every week. Hillis is top ten in fantasy points thus far. So now on my team I am using Hillis and Ahmad Bradshaw, who I told you guys was drafted too low because he was the starter and no one believed me. Last week I pickup up Ben Jarvis Green Ellis, or as he is commonly referred to "the Law Firm". Green-Ellis "should" be a good pickup. The Patriots backfield is thinned out with Maroney traded to Denver and Fred Tayor and Kevin Faulk both out. We will see tonight on Monday night football just how much fantasy value the law firm will have. So there is where I am at on the running back thing. Feel free to comment any specific questions you may have and I will answer them. Now on to the Pickup of the Week.

Ryan Torain

Torain in Preseason Action. Source
Torain rushed for 70 yards on eight carries last night and also had a touchdown, totaling 13 fantasy points. So, why is he the pickup of the week? Well check this... he is the number two back on a run first team and there is a guy on that team named Clinton Portis. As a former Portis owner I know first-hand that it is only a matter of time until he gets hurt, thus enter Torain.  Portis last night left the field during the game and did not return. So watch Portis this week, if he is out Torain would get the start. Also, if you are weak at RB you may want to pick this guy up anyway because its only a matter of time until Portis misses significant time.

Week 4 Sit/Start The Beginning of the Byes

Obviously don’t start anyone on the following teams…

Bye: Dallas, Kansas City, Minnesota, Tampa Bay

Also, remember that the value of players change as teams go on their bye week. For example, a guy like TE Aaron Hernandez might not be startable in many leagues, but this week with 3 “fantasy” starting TEs out he should be in someone’s line up.

San Francisco at Atlanta                1:00 PM         FOX

Sit:  I am worried about the 49ers big time and ATL just beat the Saints. I think Frank Gore and Vernon Davis are starts, all others sit. ATL looks better but Matt Ryan is still a sit.
Start: Usual guys here, for Atlanta Tony Gonzalez looked a bit better last week so you might start him with a bit more confidence. Roddy White has been a beast all year; he will be one here too.

Cincinnati at Cleveland         1:00 PM         CBS

Sit: T.O., now that I have said that he will probably catch like 4 touchdowns but oh well. Jerome Harrison, if Hillis isn’t the guy after last week the world is doomed. I believe there is gold in the Hillis. Not a big fan of the Bengals defense considering what the browns did to the Ravens defense.
Start: Hillis for the Browns is a must start every week from here till I tell you different. You probably want no one else for the browns here. Palmer could be good here. Ochiocinco, Benson both no brainers. Jordan Shipley is rising to fantasy relevance, taking on a Wes Welker type fantasy role, no don’t start him yet, but he could be a sleeper for year end.

NY Jets at Buffalo                    1:00 PM         CBS

Sit: All BILLS, YES ALL, not most… ALL. Bills are without a doubt the worst team in the NFL. Shonn Green, I really liked him coming into the year, but currently LT is the guy in New York, and Shonn Green has just looked bad.
Start:  J.E.T.S. Jets, Jets, Jets. I even think Sanchez might be good here. LT, Drunken Braylon Edwards, Keller (best TE in football so far); Jets Defense all blowup vs. the Bills.

Seattle at St. Louis                  1:00 PM         FOX

Sit: Even with Steven Jackson hurt I still don’t think that any of his replacements will have value against the Seahawks. Julius Jones finally didn’t get a carry last week; I think that will continue.
Start: Most Hawks, Hasselbeck should be ok here if your QB is on a bye. Justin Forsett, Seahawks receivers, Defense all good here. Mark Clayton for the Rams has been consistent over the past few weeks, and I see St. Louie being down and needing to throw.

Denver at Tennessee            1:00 PM         CBS

Sit: I still don’t like anyone involved in the Titans passing game. I think that Correll Buckhalter is also a “sit”. He didn’t do much with his work last week, even with Moreno out.
Start: I think you like most of your normal Broncos here; I really like Maloney if Moreno is out again this week. The passing game for the Broncos has been good but the ball is really being spread around so just be aware of this.

Detroit at Green Bay              1:00 PM        FOX

Sit: I can’t really think of a reason that you would need to play anyone involved in the Detroit passing game.
Start: Javid Best, I think he will have decent success here. All of your Packers will get a go in this one. Brandon Jackson might even get some good points.

Carolina at New Orleans        1:00 PM       FOX

Sit: I know it sounds crazy but at this point it makes me want to throw up just thinking about starting a Panther. Given that, I still think based on where the guys were drafted Steve Smith and DeAnglo Williams you will need to start.
Start: I really like the Saints in this matchup, but the running back situation with Bush and now Thomas out could be messy.

Indianapolis at Jacksonville   4:05 PM       CBS

Sit:  Jacksonville is just plain bad. Since you are going to start MJD anyway regardless of me telling you I think he is iffy, make sure he is the only Jag you start. Donald Brown, lots of folks like him, I don’t #2 running back on a pass first team, no thanks. Pierre Garcon, still a bit banged up, didn’t play last week, hold off on him for a bit.
Start: All Colts not mentioned above. Reggie Wayne and or Austin Collie could go off this week.

Houston at Oakland               4:05 PM       CBS

Sit: Jacoby Jones, he has not turned out to be the guy we thought just yet, but there is still time! Michael Bush is a no, McFadden is the guy.
Start:  The Texans should have a big day on the ground and in the air. The only Raider that you could start with any confidence would be Zack Miller.

Washington at Philadelphia 4:15 PM        FOX

Sit: For the most part I like all Fantasy relevant players in this one.
Start: I really like just about everyone here, even McNabb. He is returning to Philly for the first time. I like his chances.

Arizona at San Diego              4:15 PM         FOX

Sit: Arizona is pretty bad, I would stay away from all but Fitz and Wells.
Start:  Arizona is pretty bad, you want all your Chargers here.

Chicago at NY Giants              8:20 PM         NBC

Sit:  After a few weeks of WR rotation, Knox and Hester are clearly the only Bears WRs with value. I don’t really trust anyone on the Giants but Bradshaw.
Start: I think that Cutler could have a decent week here. Matt Forte will be big. I could also see Steve Smith become relevant this week.

MON, OCT 4       TIME (ET)

New England at Miami   8:30 PM

Sit:  Fred Taylor, he is hurt and Green-Ellis has taken over. I trust no Miami WR other than Marshall.
Start:  I think you like all your Pats passing threats here. Ronnie Brown and Rickey Williams are in for good games because New England’s defense is just plain bad.

Bye: Dallas, Kansas City, Minnesota, Tampa Bay
(Thought I would sneak this in one more time)

Game of the Week

Baltimore at Pittsburgh         1:00 PM        CBS

Sit: This should be a battle of the Defenses. Will it be? Who knows. I don’t like anyone of the Ravens RBs this week. Ray Rice is most likely out and Willis McGahee is not that impressive. Also not a Flacco guy this week.
Start: I think Bolden will be fairly safe; I also like Mendehall after what Hillis did to the Ravens last week. Hines Ward should be ok as well. Other than that I expect lots of Defense here so I look somewhere else for players this week.

Other random picks I like:
